In the Spotlight: DaringGirls.org
On April 26, 2025, the Cox O’Brien founding team had the serendipitous good fortune of announcing the Firm’s launch date from the stage at the 2025 annual Daring Gala, the signature annual event benefiting Daring Girls. Founding Partner EJ Cox co-hosted the gala, alongside Denver7 Morning Anchor Anusha Roy.
About Daring Girls
Daring Girls partners locally in Africa to ensure that girls have the knowledge, tools, mentorship, and support to confidently design their own futures. Because every girl should have the skills, confidence, and savvy to design her own future and dare to become who she wants to be. The organization was founded in 2001 by a 16-year-old girl from Colorado, and supports girls' education through mentorship programs that help girls build critical life skills while forming deep relationships with educated women mentors who serve as role models that show girls their own potential. More than 23,000 girls in Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia and Zimbabwe have participated in these programs to date.
At this year’s gala, Cox O'Brien made a significant pledge to support up to 50 girls for a full year of mentorship, deepening the Firm's commitment to the economic and personal empowerment of girls in Africa.
“Daring Girls is deeply grateful to Cox O'Brien for standing with us in our mission to educate and empower girls across Africa,” said Jessica Love, Executive Director of Daring Girls. “Their support goes beyond generosity—it’s a powerful statement that investing in girls’ education and mentorship drives lasting change. When legal leaders champion this work, it sends a clear message: every girl deserves the tools, knowledge and support to confidently design her own future.”
